CORENET GLOBAL MID-ATLANTIC CHAPTER HONORS GENERAL DYNAMICS’ FRANCINE NEVILLE AND OTHER CORPORATE REAL ESTATE LEADERS

(Washington, DC – May 31, 2019) The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of CoreNet Global, the world’s leading association for corporate real estate professionals, paid tribute to excellence in professional achievement at its 2019 Awards of Excellence on Thursday, May 30, at the Organization of American States in Washington, D.C.

“These awards are really the ‘Oscars’ of corporate real estate. They recognize the vitality and achievements of individual professionals and companies in our industry,” said Stefanie Spurlin, Vice President, Workplace Solutions, Capital One and 2019 President of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of CoreNet Global. “These honors recognize the dedication, collaboration, thought leadership, and heart that are emblematic of the corporate and commercial real estate profession.”

The awards honored outstanding achievement in commercial real estate in seven categories.

  • The Pinnacle Corporate Real Estate Leadership Award was presented to Francine Neville, Senior Director, Real Estate & Facilities at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT). Following the merger of GDIT and CSRA, Neville was at the heart of the restructuring and consolidation of businesses across a worldwide portfolio, including a move from a de-centralized real estate arrangement to a centralized model that added facilities management for 270 sites. Substantial savings were achieved by consolidating duplicate functions and downsizing a portfolio within one year from 7.2 to 5.4 million square feet. Her staff grew exponentially, from five to 65. Neville was also a lead player in divestitures that included the sale of 21 call center sites, the realignment of vendor relationships, and the redesign and completion GDIT’s new 220,000-square foot consolidated corporate headquarters.
  • The Corporate Real Estate Young Leadership Award was awarded to Lorena Trejo, Director Global Corporate Office Leasing of Hilton Worldwide. A recognized collaborator who builds relationships on trust, communication and respect for deadlines, Trejo was saluted for her ability to bring together teams of professionals to meet Hilton’s rapid growth demands in China and elsewhere.
  • The Corporate Real Estate Partnership Award was presented to Capital One and Cushman & Wakefield. The 31-story Capital One headquarters building in Tysons, Virginia, blends technology, art and science to inspire an innovative heartbeat for commerce and sustain a reputation as an employer of choice. The partnership between Cushman & Wakefield and Capital One Produced the tallest occupied building in the DC Metro Area.
  • The Service Provider Leadership Award was given to Janet Pogue McLaurin, Workplace Leader and Principal, Gensler for her work leading the firm’s workplace research and the development of Gensler’s Workplace Performance Index (WPI)®Tool,  a pre- and post-occupancy survey to gather employee input before a design project and then to measure the success of the design solution upon completion. Pogue is recognized for her contributions as a national thought leader with a fluent command of the language of design who has helped elevate visibility, build credibility, and foster understanding of workplace strategy and design.
  • The Best New Workplace Solution Award - Design Excellence was presented to IA Interior Architects and McCormick for a new seven-story headquarters in Hunt Valley, Maryland, that brings McCormick’s passion for flavor to life. From test kitchens to a learning and development center, every inch of the facility is infused with an exuberant hunger for excellence.
  • The Best New Workplace Solution Award - User Experience went to Nestlé and CBRE for its new landmark headquarters in Rosslyn, Virginia. The relocated offices showcase the iconic brand’s mission, culture and identity, while also underscoring opportunities for employee collaboration, diversity and inclusion. A dramatic 10-story central staircase encourages movement and connection with fellow coworkers.
  • The Best Workplace Solution Award, Technology and Innovation was presented to Accenture and FORM Architects. Accenture’s Cyber Fusion Center acts as a bold statement for creating cutting-edge, technology-driven solutions, while placing special emphasis on creativity and wellness.

 

The awards were judged by a panel of distinguished corporate real estate executives from outside the Washington Region who included George Conti of Iron Mountain, Vanessa Scaglione, KPMG and Paul Westenberger of EY.
