CORENET GLOBAL MID-ATLANTIC CHAPTERS CELEBRATES EXCELLENCE IN CORPORATE REAL ESTATE WITH AWARDS GALA AT ARENA STAGE

The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of CoreNet Global celebrated superlative regional achievement and collaboration in corporate real estate as the organization presented its 2017 Awards of Excellence on Tuesday, May 9, at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater in Washington, D.C.

“Our CoreNet Global Mid-Atlantic Chapter stands for the acceleration of success in our industry, in individual careers, and in the larger community. With these awards, we recognize exceptional performances in corporate real estate on a stage where so many other groundbreaking performances have achieved national acclaim and influence,” said Mark Gorman, Vice President of Corporate Real Estate & Facilities at Ciena and 2017 President of CoreNet Global Mid-Atlantic.

Outstanding achievement in commercial real estate was honored in five categories.

 The Pinnacle Commercial Real Estate Leadership Award was presented to Steve Dunn, the Director of Workplace at CSRA, recognizing his achievements in leading the closings of 27 and opening of four locations following a merger in 2015, achieving a nearly 10 percent cost savings year over year. His efforts have helped, to transform his firm into an international powerhouse with 143 locations and a total portfolio exceeding 3.3 million square feet. He has been actively engaged in CoreNet Global as a speaker at local, regional events and global events.

 The Commercial Real Estate Young Leadership Award went to Leslie Frederick Corporate Real Estate Manager, CACI, who was saluted for her work ethic, business intelligence, networking skills, and professional accomplishments centered around the alignment of real estate needs with business goals.

 The Corporate Real Estate Partnership Award was presented to the integrated teaming of AOL and JLL as pioneers in the merger of space management and flexibility with technology and innovation, maximizing the value of an existing portfolio, and managing the relocation of more than 4,000 employees worldwide.

 The Service Provider Leadership Award was given to Newmark Grubb Knight Frank in recognition of a dynamic, diverse and highly experienced team that consistently exhibits integrity, innovation, and professionalism unscored by expertise, trust, and service.

 The Best New Workplace Solution Award was presented to the Exelon Headquarters in Baltimore for a state-of- the-art business setting that promotes transparency, eliminates physical barriers, makes the most efficient use of square footage, and gives employees more options and more control over their work areas.

A panel of leading corporate real estate professionals from CoreNet Global chapters outside of the Washington region and representing companies such as Nokia, Bank of America and Bose served as judges for the awards.
